Signature Size Requirements
Government exam portals have strict signature size requirements:
| Exam/Portal | Signature Size | Dimensions | Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| SSC | 10-20 KB | 140x60 px | JPG |
| UPSC | 20-300 KB | Varies | JPG |
| IBPS | 10-20 KB | 140x60 px | JPG |
| Railway | 10-20 KB | 140x60 px | JPG |
| NEET/JEE | 10-200 KB | Varies | JPG |
How to Create a Compliant Signature
Step 1: Create Your Signature
- Sign on plain white paper
- Use a black ball pen (not gel pen)
- Sign with normal pressure - dark but not smudged
- Leave some margin around the signature
Step 2: Capture the Signature
Option A - Scan: Use a scanner at 200-300 DPI. Save as JPG.
Option B - Phone Camera: Take a photo in good daylight. Avoid shadows.
Step 3: Crop the Image
Use our Crop Image tool to remove excess white space. Crop close to the signature but leave a small margin.
Step 4: Compress to Required Size
Use our 20KB Compressor to reduce file size. Set target to 10KB or 20KB based on portal requirements.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Blurry signature: Ensure good focus when photographing
- Too much background: Crop closely around the signature
- Wrong format: Always save as JPG, not PNG
- Colored background: Should be white background only
Troubleshooting
Signature Won't Compress to 20KB?
- Crop more aggressively - remove all extra white space
- Reduce image dimensions (140x60 is sufficient)
- Use lower quality setting (60-70%)
Signature Looks Bad After Compression?
- Start with a clearer original image
- Increase contrast before compressing
- Try scanning at a higher resolution first
